There she let herself be inspired by the diverse impressions of her natural surroundings. The daytime cycle with its different plays of light, the changes in weather, and a colour palette reflecting the colours of local birds and the lush green of the foliage or the blackness of the night.
All these were re-starting points for processing her impressions of nature, collected on her travels through England and Greece in the summer of 2019. Pictures that zoom in from the view of the total, into the microscopic forest life. Pictures that tie in with traditional landscape painting, and at the same time are observations of the finely woven ecosystem that runs through the forest. A system of roots, fungi and spores, which forms a communication network between the forest inhabitants, allowing the trees to “reach under each other’s branches”
A network of silent solidarity, attentive to the welfare of the being vis-á-vis and of the adjacent tree. A Wood Wide Web, which in contrast to our World Wide Web does not sow discord and hatred, but is committed to a simple, necessary state of being and not the confusing abundance of information.
Let’s listen to the trees more carefully again and hear the painters voice. “Forest Dwellers” is EJ Hauser’s first exhibition with the gallery.

Im Sommer 2018 bezog EJ Hauser ein temporäres Atelier in einer Scheune in der ländlichen Umgebung der Catskill Mountains. Dort ließ sie sich von den vielfältigen Eindrücken ihrer natürlichen Umgebung inspirieren. Der Tageszyklus mit seinen unterschiedlichen Lichtspielen, den Wetterwechseln, sowie einer Farbpalette, die die Farben der lokalen Vögel reflektierte und vom satten Grün des Blattwerks oder der Schwärze der Nacht geprägt war.
All dies waren Anknüpfungspunkte, Ihre im Sommer 2019 bei Reisen durch England und Griechenland gesammelten Eindrücke der Natur, zu verarbeiten.
So entstanden Bilder, die sich aus dem Blick der Totale, hinein zoomen in das mikroskopische Waldleben. Bilder die an die traditionelle Landschaftsmalerei anknüpfen, und zugleich Beobachtungen des feingesponnen Ökosystems, welches den Wald durchzieht, sind. Ein System aus Wurzelwerk, Pilzen und Sporen, welches ein Kommunikationsnetz zwischen den Waldbewohnern ausbildet und das es den Bäumen ermöglicht sich gegenseitig unter die „Äste zu greifen“.
Ein Netz stiller Solidarität, gewahr für das Wohl des Gegenüber und des Nebenbaumes. Ein Wood Wide Web, welches im Gegensatz zu dem unserigen World Wide Web keine Zwietracht und keinen Hass sät, welches einem schlichten, notwendigen Seinszustand verpflichtet ist und nicht dem wirren Überfluss an Information.
Lasst uns wieder genauer auf die Bäume und die Stimme der Malerin hören.
