KATHERINE BRADFORD “Superheroes”
Superheroes make a regular appearance in Katherine Bradford’s scenes, often as skinny-looking figures but still undeniably super in their red-blue suits, capes and tights. Gliding, floating and tumbling through otherworldly landscapes, sometimes alone and sometimes accompanied by other super-suited friends, they have little in common with the macho archetypes of comic strips and Marvel movies. Instead, the power of these figures lies with their human fragility and an ‘everyman’ anonymity that renders them generously relatable.
SUPERHEROES brings together over 40 works that deal with the theme of superheroes and that the gallery has shown since 2017 at exhibitions, fairs or other presentations.
