Maximilian Kirmse at Kunstverein Kärnten

July 10-August 7, 2026

”Long story short“ is an idiom used to deliberately condense a narrative. Expanding upon this concept, the exhibition at Kunstverein Kärnten brings together nine international artists whose works engage with everyday observations and found objects.

Rather than documenting these seemingly incidental moments, the artists systematically shift and defamiliarize them. These interventions generate new readings of the familiar; subtle observations evolve into intimations of larger narratives that are simultaneously and intentionally disrupted.

Navigating the space between condensation and omission, the works examine how new meanings emerge from mundane situations and materials. In doing so, they offer fragmentary, at times humorous or unsettling insights into the structures of daily life.

Participating artists: Bernhard Buff, Fid Fischer, Thilo Jenssen, Axel Jonsson, Maximilian Kirmse, Constantin Lhotka, Layla Nabi, Miriam Steinmacher, Matthias Weinfurter
