Anna Grath (b. 1983 in Immenstadt, Germany) studied Fine Arts at the HfBK in Hamburg, where she lives and works.
Anna Grath’s work is characterized by almost solely using divers objects and everyday material which she combines in the manner of a gardener wanting to breed new combinations of plants. Principles of breeding, growing, education, restrictive elements do show in her constructive and minimalistic works.
Graths work has been shown at Sammlung Falckenberg / Deichtorhallen, Kunstverein Bremerhaven, Kunsthalle Wilhelmshaven, Kunsthaus Hamburg, Kunsthalle Recklinghausen among others. Grath has been awarded the Hiscox Art Price in Hamburg in 2013. She has been on the short list of the ars viva price 2019 and is a scholarship holder of the Neue Kunst in Hamburg, Stiftung Kunstfonds Bonn and the Hamburger Arbeitsstipendium. Works by Anna Grath were acquired by the Collection of Contemporary Art of the Federal Republic of Germany as well as the Kunsthalle Hamburg.
In 2022, a group of Anna Graths works will be part of an exhibition at Kunsthalle Hamburg.
